Let’s get to know one another!
Here’s 5 random facts you might not know about me…
…Cara Green, and I started #thelittlepapershop in 2014.
I’m a photographer, stationer, designer, illustrator and artist, and love nothing more than to provide a mixture of all of the above to our lovely customers!
…to my lovely husband Sean since 2013.
Obviously I think he’s rather good looking (playing for Chester RUFC helps with the bod! 😉 ), but he’s also super kind, very funny and totally supporting of the business. He also LOVES that I tend to refer to him as ‘Mr. Paper Shop’, honest! Fun fact: we were married at Easter and it snowed!
…a morning person and therefore have developed an obsession with good #coffee.
My machine at home is up there with my camera for my all-time favourite things, and I consider myself to be quite the #barista. Latte is my preferred poison, and I have at least two a day – though I’m now trying to be good and bring in some decaff. Hunting out cool mugs and espresso sets is a new favourite pastime of mine!
…painting and art at school, and went on to college to do my BTEC in Art & Design – with the intention of going on to do a degree in Graphic Design.
However, my head was turned by cameras and the darkroom, and I went off and pursued a career as a press photographer instead. It’s so nice that I’ve now turned full circle, and am back behind an iMac designing as well as behind the camera. I also have bought out the paints and pens again, as my couples LOVE incorporating special hand-painted elements into their stationery, and I’m often commissioned to create paintings and illustrations for businesses.
…a former award-winning #photojournalist who has had the privilege of photographing some awesome people
– such as Amy Winehouse, the Royal Family, Muse, and Gary Barlow to name a few (and they’re just some of the famous ones – so many more people with amazing stories that I was privileged to meet)! My time spent training and working in the business of telling stories through the medium of photography has been particularly useful when it comes to telling the story of someone’s Big Day as their wedding photographer, and it’s why my natural style will always gravitate to natural, artistic candid images.
…a ‘LBD’ kind of girl, and you’ll find all sorts of colours and textures in my wardrobe.
Denim and a pretty knit (I have an obsession with wool!) are definitely regularly featured, and I like to look for quirky details on my clothes – a sequin gold bow against a fuchsia mohair top, a black leather biker jacket teamed with a girly ditsy-print teadress, or a black tasseled hem hanging from my striped blue shirt – to name a few of my favourite items.
I think my love of patterns and texture has filtered through into my designs, as I love to incorporate both for visual interest and a tactile quality. I’ve just brought in some hand-dyed silk ribbons for our couple’s wedding stationery, which are just STUNNING!
